UJA - Federation Honors Roy Furman

With performances by Broadway legends like Barabara Cook, and new stars like Matt Cavenaugh and Josefina Scaglione from West Side Story, Irena’s Vow star Tovah Feldshuh as emcee, and Andrew Lippa (composer of the upcoming The Addams Family musical) performing, it is no exaggeration to say that many of Broadway’s best turned out to honor Roy Furman at the recent New York UJA – Federation 2009 Excellence In Theatre Award Dinner at The Mandarin Oriental.

Mr. Furman has been involved as a co-producer on countless Broadway shows including Fosse, The Color Purple, Fortune’s Fool, Spamalot, Gypsy, Legally Blonde, The History Boys, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Inherit The Wind. This season alone he’s been a co-producer on the Tony Nominated revival of West Side Story, the hit All My Sons and Impressionism. Not one to rest on his laurels, Mr. Furman will soon be involved in the upcoming production of The Addams Family with Nathan Lane.

Joining in the celebration were a host of stars including legends like Stanley Donen, Arthur Penn, Phil Donahue, Marlo Thomas, Marshall Brickman, and Jane Friedman. Check out these photos from Michael Priest. While Roy Furman may have his feet on Wall Street as vice chairman of Jefferies & Company, his heart clearly is on Broadway.
